For about 80 miles of our 120 mile trip today, Jasper spent his time wisely and drew this picture of Gibraltar. He pretty much got most of it from the container ships, cable car, grey rocks and green trees, the levant cloud, airplanes and even the Morrisons.
Meanwhile, once on site today, after school work, Maya and I went to celebrate where we were by painting it. A difficult subject to paint - just the mountains of the Sierra Nevada. Hugely impressive though they are from the view of our Hugo, who was desperately in need of a rest after all his climbing up hill today. Anyway, Maya and I went for a good 40 mins of watercolour painting. There were hills beyond hills in shades of blue, grey, greens and browns. Maya's was a good effort given the fact that it's only the second time she has used the watercolours.
Even though the beaches have been lovely, it is great to be back in the hills and mountains, where the scenery once again raises the odd 'wow' when driving from all quarters of the vehicle. It seems sad that if I mention places such as Malaga, Marbella, Torremolinos, etc that visions of beaches and hotels spring to mind. Nobody there seemed to care that right behind them, almost on their doorsteps are stunning mountains little more than a stones throw from the beaches, there was just a beach focus. Or that's what it seemed like.
