Hidden frog and the spaceman

This sounds like a whacky story title which could actually help with my previous post. It is in fact the plot of today. We cycled 6 miles into Salamanca today, a bit of a cycle path that turned into a dirt track that led increasingly and precariously along and near to the River Tormes.
Having survived that (the children riding the bumps, tree roots and rocks without batting an eyelid) we lunched, then crossed the Roman bridge that led into the main town.
We have seen a few towns of Spain now, some more appealing than others. Salamanca though was a delight. It had a fabulous calm, but social university town atmosphere. Outside bars everywhere, street music, space and time to think and digest it all. And on top of that, the architecture of the place was lovely. Incidentally, I know as much about architecture as I do about travel, so in essence, we just liked the look of the place.
A curious set of things though had to be found. The first was a spaceman. I don't think the Spanish are known for their space exploits. Most launches would have to be abandoned due to the afternoon close down! Anyway, in the cathedral, on the eastern entrance, there has been some repair work done in its recent history. In amongst all the gargoyles, figures and columns carved into the stone, there nestles a carving of a spaceman.
Quite amazing, and a good bit of fun too.
The other thing we had to go and find was a frog on a skull. Again, this is another little stonemason humour. I'm not sure of the joke, but the punch line is that everywhere sells frogs as a result. So below you will find a picture of the whole wall. Somewhere on this (....yes now is the time to start zooming in) is a skull carving, with a frog sat on top of it.
(Yes, it's on this photograph somewhere!)
So the 'Where's Wally' homework is to try and find it. Incidentally, the 23rd of September was the due date for anyone completing the 'das boot' homework!
I digress, a lovely day had by all, some excellent cycling, followed by some PE for the children (a lovely afternoon swim). Well done Salamanca!
