Vast areas of outstanding natural beauty

"Adventure is worthwhile" - Amelia Earhart

Today we have been on a mission to get to a campsite nearer to Madrid. We're gearing up for another city visit! Our drive from Logrono to the campsite at Navarrete yesterday was spectacular, with views far and wide of arid land, green fields, mountains, open farm land, deep green conifer forests. You name it, we saw it! The site was lovely and if we had had longer, we would have spent two nights there, but like in the littlest hobo song, "there's a voice that keeps on calling me, down the road, that's where I wanna be!!!"

Todays views have been similar and as we passed the 2,000 mile mark, we continued to be wowed by the amazing scenery all around. Mountains at one side, and what looked like deserts at the other. The contrasts between the orange land and the blue sky, and then the blue next to the yellow sunflower fields was amazing! Jasper and Maya kept shouting for us to look out at strange rock formations, and villages nested in the hillsides.

I took several photos along the way, and even made a video of our journey. Ed enjoyed the drive; at times we were the only ones on the road, or so it seemed! We passed such little traffic, and only a handful of cars overtook us as we were rather slow on some of the hills.

Now we are at another campsite, the third in as many days, and it's rather spacious, though there is little shade from the blistering heat. The views here of the surrounding landscape are equally spectacular. It's hard to think that in winter, literally a stones throw away from the campsite there is a ski village called Rofrio de Riaza. You can see the pistes marked clearly and the ski lift, though obviously it's not in action at the moment!!!
Today's adventure has definitely been worthwhile!
