When we embarked upon this trip, I had visions of lazy evenings, lazy days and much time to do lots of things that we might not necessarily have time to do. For example, I was hoping that I could read a little more. 3 books in August was a good start, but I have barely had time to get properly into my most recent book.
I was also hoping that I could write a million pound best selling novel. This has not happened yet. First of all, I don't have many ideas, but also the sheer lack of time.
I was hoping to also write a million pound best selling album of music, all written on the travel guitar. As of yet, the travel guitar has not had many outings!
There was also hope that the evenings would be wiled away with games. This hasn't happened either.
So what has been happening I hear you ask?
Well, the daily routines take some time, everyone chipping in. The children automatically are reading and are munching their way through our small library. Then it's either travel or going somewhere for a day. The evenings are for bits of school work sometimes too, possibly a swim or cycle. Then it's diaries for everyone, showers for children when we can, and then once the children are in bed, it's write out the daily spend, add it all up, total up the daily mileage, draw on the maps and then start to plan out the next days.
This has been the routine that has been adopted, and we are doing a lot, seeing a lot, finding out a lot, learning a lot.
All I can hope for is that as the journey winds it's way back into Italy, our days may slow down and the children may go to bed early. The Spanish lifestyle is not conducive to working in the evenings.
