Yay! It's Fiesta night tonight! We are just outside of Madrid, and our campsite has sprung into party mode. As the children try to rest (still being British with bedtimes, a hard habit to break), a full on jive bunny mega mix of music is playing. Essentially, pick all the party tunes of the Brits, such as anything by the Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor etc and then flesh out with the Spanish equivalents of Agadoo or The Conga (Clare even swears she's heard a Spanish cover of a Beatles track!) and that is what we have. At full volume! It's great, so we are sitting outside with a bottle of red from St Emilion and enjoying the evening. The sad thing is that the Brits opposite us are trying to drown out the party atmosphere with sad and tragic droll chart music from 'good ole Blighty'. A shame because we have a really bad mix of music now, akin to mixing custard with gravy in cooking, it just doesn't quite work, with the gravy spoiling the fun of the custard! A bad analogy I know, but that's what a quality wine is doing for me!
In the words of Russ Abott, "
Oh what an atmosphere, I love a party with a happy atmosphere!"
Ed (and a glass or two of wine after a beer on a hot sunny day!)
Ps, just a little bit worried now, smile disappeared from my face; apparently our French non English speaking neighbours said that the party didn't finish until 5am last night!!!! Report to follow!
